As a Boricua living in the diaspora I create art that feels like home no matter where I may be. There are certain images that, to a Puerto Rican, do not need explanation. Recognized by us across the globe, El Coquí is more than our endangered tree frog, it is a beloved symbol that directly connects us to our roots. Because like the Coquí who only sings while on the island, we come our most alive when we are back in our shores.
